Information about the template

The Hawker Hurricane was a British single-seat fighter aircraft that served in the RAF and in the air forces of other allied armies during World War II. Hurricanes, along with Spitfires, formed the backbone of the British fighter aircraft during the Battle of Britain. The aircraft was developed in the mid-1930s and was the first modern single-wing fighter of the British Royal Air Force. However, it was gradually replaced by the more modern and powerful Spitfire, although the latter was more demanding in terms of production and also more expensive. Later, the Hurricane served as a fighter-bomber, armed with 40mm cannons to destroy tanks of the German Afrika Korps in North Africa, or operated as the naval Hawker Sea Hurricane from the decks of British aircraft carriers.
