The Corgi The Aviation Archive series is a collection of meticulously detailed metal aircraft models, primarily aimed at discerning collectors. Limited edition with a numbered card.

Information about the subject

At the beginning of World War II, the Japanese Zero outperformed any Allied aircraft on the Pacific battlefield. In the Battle of Midway, the Americans deployed their F4F-4 Wildcats against Zeros in the A6M2 version. Against them, the Zero still had the advantage of better maneuverability and climb rate, but the heavier Wildcat was faster in dive flight, had self-sealing tanks, and an armored cockpit. By the end of 1942, a new A6M3 version with "clipped" wingtips appeared on the battlefield. Newer, more powerful, and better-armored aircraft, such as Corsairs and Hellcats, gradually gained supremacy.
