Plastic construction kit for gluing together produced by MiniArt.

Template information

The StuH 42 self-propelled gun was essentially a more heavily armed version of the Sturmgeschütz III assault gun. The StuG III was intended to provide direct fire support to infantry, moving alongside them and quickly destroying enemy machine gun nests, artillery positions, fortified points and other so-called soft targets.

However, after the invasion of the Soviet Union, these machines had to engage increasingly in combat against overwhelmingly superior numbers of heavily armored enemy tanks. As a result, a decision was made in September 1941 that set a clear direction for the further development of the Stug III – maximizing its ability to destroy armored vehicles.

The serial production of the StuH 42 was launched in March 1943. Production took place at the Alkett company in parallel with the production of the classic StuG III. The main armament of the tank was the StuH 42 howitzer of 105 mm caliber.
