Template information

Fordson was an American brand of tractors and trucks under the Ford Motor Company. Henry Ford had been designing tractors since 1907, with the first prototype, the Model B, appearing in 1915.

In 1917, due to opposition from Ford Motor Company shareholders to the tractor experiments in Dearborn, Ford and his son Edsel founded a new company, Henry Ford & Son Limited, and began mass production of the Model F, which became particularly popular in Great Britain.

Tractors were more affordable than comparable competing products due to their track-based production and simple design. In 1919, Ford established a branch in Cork, Ireland, and in 1920 transferred tractor production to the Ford Motor Company.

In the 1920s, the Soviet Union also became a major customer, where the licensed Fordson-Putilov tractor was produced at the Kirov Plant in Leningrad. In 1925, the half-millionth Fordson was produced. In 1929, the Model F was replaced by the new Model N.
