The Soviet T-55 tank was the successor to the T-54, which entered service shortly after the end of World War II. For many years, this type formed the backbone of the tank units of the Warsaw Pact countries. It was distinguished by a reliable 100 mm cannon and good armor, and was also easy to maintain and inexpensive to produce. It was one of the most mass-produced tanks in history. The tank existed in several versions. For example, it was used by the Iraqi army during the Iraq-Iran conflict in 1980-1988. The tanks also participated in the war in Kuwait at the turn of January/February 1991.
