The Curtiss P-36 Hawk, also known as the Curtiss Hawk Model 75, was an American single-engine fighter aircraft from the late 1930s. It was the predecessor of the better-known Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighter. The Curtiss P-36 Hawk was one of the first generation of fighter aircraft characterized by an all-metal construction, retractable landing gear and a sufficiently powerful power unit. The US Army Air Force used these machines only in limited numbers, as their performance was not among the absolute top. Foreign users included France, Great Britain, Finland, and China.
