The North American T-6 Texan is one of the most important training aircraft in history, having trained tens of thousands of pilots during World War II and the post-war period. The T-6G version was a specific post-war modernization of older airframes, which brought improved cockpit equipment, a modified cabin canopy for better visibility and a more reliable fuel system. The machine, powered by a powerful nine-cylinder Pratt & Whitney radial engine, required precision piloting from students, which made it the perfect intermediate stage before the transition to sharp fighter aircraft.
In addition to their primary training role, the Texans also proved themselves in close combat, for example during the Korean War, where they served as forward air guidance machines for searching for enemy positions. Thanks to their robust construction, great maneuverability and unmistakable engine sound, these machines became icons of military aviation. After being withdrawn from military service, the Texans found mass use among civilian owners, in flight schools and are still among the most frequent and popular participants in historical airshows around the world.
