The Sd.Kfz.251 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251) was a half-track armored fighting vehicle designed and built by Hanomag during World War II. The design was based on the unarmored Sd.Kfz.11. The Sd.Kfz.251 was primarily intended for transporting German mechanized infantry (panzergrenadiers) to the scene of armed conflicts, but was used for a variety of other tasks. In Germany, it was the most mass-produced half-track vehicle. Production took place at several manufacturers, with a total of 15,252 units of this equipment built.
