Kovozávody Prostějov KPM0533 - 1:72 Avia BH-33E ″over Europe″
Plastic kit of the Czechoslovak fighter biplane Avia BH-33E, export and license-produced versions with metal fuselage construction.
Template information
The Avia BH-33E represented a significant evolution of the original wooden structure, in which the square fuselage was replaced by a more modern lattice frame made of steel tubes with an elliptical cross-section. This modification not only increased the overall durability of the machine, but also significantly improved its flight performance thanks to a more aerodynamic cowling of the Jupiter engine. Although the domestic air force purchased only a small number of units for sports purposes, the aircraft was a great success abroad, especially in Yugoslavia and Poland, where it was produced in large licensed series.
The most famous chapter in the history of this type was written by the Yugoslav machines, which remained in active service until the country was invaded by Nazi Germany in April 1941. Despite their complete technological obsolescence, two Yugoslav pilots bravely confronted modern Messerschmitt Bf 109 E fighters, but both died in this unequal battle. The kit from Kovozávodů Prostějov faithfully captures the specific shapes of the "E" version, including the characteristic radial engine, and offers a look at one of the most successful export items of the Czechoslovak interwar industry.
