Information about the pre-danger
The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21MF is one of the most widely used versions of this legendary supersonic fighter with a characteristic delta wing. The MF version was an export variant of the Soviet SM type, equipped with a more powerful radar and an improved R13-300 engine. These aircraft served reliably in the Czechoslovak and later Czech Air Forces (CZAF) for decades, with the last of them protecting our airspace until 2005.
The aircraft excelled in its high rate of climb, maneuverability and ability to reach twice the speed of sound, which made it an effective interceptor. In the Czech Air Force, some units underwent modernization for interoperability with NATO forces, and became famous for their typical gray camouflage and special anniversary markings. The machine remains a symbol of a great era of our military air force and still has a place of honor in many museums.
