The Dassault Mirage III is a French single-engine supersonic fighter aircraft produced since the late 1950s by Dassault Aviation. It is designed as a low-wing aircraft with a delta wing. The universal design allowed the production of training, reconnaissance and combat versions. The Mirage III was also the first combat aircraft of Western origin to exceed Mach 2 in horizontal flight.
