Send a questionPlastic kit of the Italian World War II fighter aircraft Fiat G.50bis Freccia.
Information about the template:
Many argue that the Regia Aeronautica had some of the most attractive aircraft of World War II, although some of these machines may not be as well known as those of other nations. The Fiat G.50, which marked the transition between biplane and monoplane design, is an important aircraft in the history of the Italian Air Force.
It was also the first Italian fighter to feature retractable landing gear and an enclosed cockpit, although this feature was later changed as it was not popular with pilots. Early versions of the G.50 suffered from insufficient range, and when around 50 aircraft were sent to the final stages of the Battle of Britain, they were no match for the RAF's Spitfires and Hurricanes. The Fiat G.50 saw extensive use in North Africa and throughout the Mediterranean, where in the hands of capable pilots it proved very effective in combat.
It was used for air superiority and bomber escort, but it also successfully participated in attacks on ground targets, where its robust design and low-altitude flight characteristics stood out. By the end of 1942, these aircraft were far behind their Allied opponents, and the remaining machines were relegated to second-line and support training roles.
