ICM 72216 - 1:72 M8A1 US Landing Mat
Plastic construction kit for gluing together produced by ICM.
Template information
Developed by the US Army Corps of Engineers, M8A1 steel plates were primarily used for the rapid construction of temporary runways. These plates were widely used during the Vietnam War in the late 1960s and early 1970s. They found use in building helicopter landing pads or runways for light attack and observation aircraft.
Each 3660×560 mm slab featured a trapezoidal profile that allowed for effective rainwater drainage. The US Army Engineers were responsible for their installation. The slabs could be laid in a staggered pattern or in a row, allowing for the construction of both small areas and large airfields.
