Academy 13431 - 1:72 Tiger I Late Version
Plastic kit of the German World War II heavy tank Tiger I.
Template information
The German Tiger Tanks are among the most famous armored vehicles of World War II. Their construction was designed to provide the Wehrmacht's tank divisions with superior firepower. The Tiger tanks were used mainly where the older types of medium tanks Panzer III and Panzer IV would not be able to withstand the newly developed enemy technology. The main armament was the legendary (originally anti-aircraft) KwK 36 L/56 cannon of 88 mm caliber.
The gun was installed in a rotating turret and protected by a 120 mm thick mask. This powerful weapon was able to penetrate any enemy tank, even at considerable distances. The first live use of Tiger tanks took place in September 1942 near Leningrad. A few months later, Tigers were deployed in the Don River basin in Russia. The first tanks produced also participated in the fighting in North Africa, this happened in December 1942.
