Avro 683 Lancaster was a four-engine bomber used during the Second World War, the British Royal Air Force. He was one of the most important types that during the war served in the RAF, and formed the backbone of the British Bomber Command in the second half of the war (we can say that in this type replaced the Vickers Wellington). It was first operationally deployed in 1942, as the last of the three British four-engined heavy bombers serving in Bomber Command (next to the types Short Stirling and Handley Page Halifax). During the war he was deployed almost exclusively as a heavy bomber, within Bomber Command (war was never used in combat outside the British Isles, only remained in service with Bomber Command, one of the Home Commands, so-called "home headquarters").
