Tamiya 35324 - 1:35 Iraqi Tank T-55 ″Enigma″

Plastic kit of the Iraqi T-55 "Enigma" tank, which was deployed during the Persian Gulf War.

Template information

The Iraqi T-55 "Enigma" is a unique modification of the Soviet T-55 tank, developed by the Iraqi army in the late 1980s. The main feature of this variant is a specific additional armor consisting of boxes with layered plates, which were supposed to increase protection against cumulative shells (HEAT). These armor blocks were installed on the hull and on the turret, where they were supplemented with a characteristic counterweight on the rear to balance the increased weight. Although the "Enigmas" did not have modern electronics, their robust appearance and the desire to increase the crew's survivability made them one of the most interesting symbols of the Iraqi armored forces during Operation Desert Storm in 1991.

The kit from the Japanese company Tamiya faithfully and with high accuracy captures this unique machine in a scale of 1:35. The model stands out for its precise processing of typical armored boxes, which are not missing detailed markings of handles and joints. The tank chassis is designed with an emphasis on the realism of the wheels and tracks, which are designed in the form of proven two-piece moldings for easier assembly while maintaining a high level of detail. The kit also includes a detailed figure of an Iraqi tanker and clear parts for periscope optics and headlights. High-quality decals allow the construction of the machine in desert camouflage from the battles in 1991, which will create a technically and historically interesting addition to any collection of modern armored vehicles.
