Plastic kit of the Italian World War II self-propelled gun Semovente M42 da 75/34.
Template information
In the late 1930s, the Italian Regio Esercito began deploying self-propelled guns to support tanks and infantry. The Semovente 75/34 was developed based on the M-series medium tank, and soon became the most feared Italian armoured vehicle.
In addition to its primary artillery role, the mounted 75mm howitzer proved to be a highly effective anti-tank weapon, with its firepower far superior to that of the M-13 and M-14 tanks. The Semovente also had the advantage of its low profile, which made it difficult to aim. Its off-road and on-road performance was also very good. The tank operated in Africa and also in a defensive role during Allied operations in Italy. It later appeared in Wehrmacht service, which in itself confirms its qualities.
