The twin-engine wide-body airliner Airbus A330-200 was created as a replacement for the A300-600R. It first flew in 1997. Compared to the A330-300, the aircraft received a shortened fuselage designed to carry up to 253 passengers and an enlarged vertical stabilizer. Due to the reduction in flight weight, the range increased to 13,450 km. The high flight and economic characteristics of the A330-200 allowed it to successfully compete with the Boeing 767. Serial aircraft are equipped with Rolls-Royce and Pratt&Whitney engines and are used by dozens of airlines around the world.
