Template information
The Fairey Gannet was a British carrier-based anti-submarine aircraft that served the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force from 1953. It was a mid-wing aircraft with a tricycle landing gear and a crew of three. The aircraft was powered by two turboprop engines, the power of which was transmitted to a counter-rotating propeller. Both engines were used only during takeoff, after which one of the engines was shut down to save fuel. The aircraft first flew on 19 September 1949. A total of 347 aircraft of all versions were built. The last aircraft reached their final destination on 15 December 1978.
