During World War II, the basic design of the Supermarine Spitfire saw constant development, illustrating its strength and adaptability. Eventually, over 20,000 aircraft were produced in 24 different variants. The Mk.V variant was in fact something of a temporary version of the aircraft that fought during the Battle of Britain, but with 6,487 built, it eventually became the most produced variant of the Spitfire.
