Therefore, Agusta filed a motion for a new attack helicopter A129, which should meet all demands. This project was approved in 1978. The first prototype flew up in 1983. It was built five prototypes. AVES originally wanted to take the arms 100 helicopters was finally realized only 45 Mangust. The helicopter was officially put into operation in 1990.
In 1986 he was selected for the helicopter project light attack helicopter LAH (Light Attack Helicopter).
