The Rustler 4x4 VX3 RC car model with large aggressive wheels, a low center of gravity and a wide track is built for the fastest stable ride and precise control in medium-heavy terrain. The new Rustler is not only improved, but completely rebuilt for an even higher level of performance, durability and user comfort. Thanks to the new AC drive with 2-3S LiPo power supply, the model reaches speeds of up to 80 km/h . It can even handle this speed with the factory pinion, which is an increase of approximately 25% compared to the previous drive. The drive components have improved cooling and a controller with integrated telemetry. The TSM electronic ride stabilization contributes to excellent controllability. With 4x4 drive, the model has excellent traction, acceleration, better cornering and easier control. For high durability, the model is factory-equipped with Extreme Heavy Duty components.
The proven Rustler design has been retained, including a modular chassis design, cutting-edge independent suspension geometry and drivetrain. Front and rear differentials complement the center differential for perfect performance between the axles. New GTR composite shocks improve handling and make setup easier. Durable reinforced bumpers protect the model in the event of an impact, and the front has an increased approach angle for better overcoming obstacles. A new clipless body system with beaks in the wheel arches allows for easy access to the model and battery replacement.
For children and beginners, it is advisable to initially operate the model with a 2S LiPo battery, which reduces the maximum speed to 56 km/h. The controller also offers three driving modes, including Training mode, in which the power is limited to 50%. This makes the Rustler a versatile model that you can initially use with lower power and gradually increase it as your driving experience grows. The control is provided by the new TQi Sport 2.4 GHz RC kit. Of course, there is also a wide range of tuning and complete spare parts.
The new VX3 brushless motor can convert the energy of a 3S LiPo battery into extreme acceleration. The VX3 speed controller has modern electronics, active fan cooling, easy one-button setup and telemetry support. The powerful Velineon V3200 motor is the ideal combination of high speed, power and efficiency. The fan and integrated cooling effectively keep the motor temperature low even during demanding driving.
The new GTR composite shocks absorb impacts and ensure maximum wheel-to-surface contact. They hold over 70% more oil than standard Ultra Shocks, are X-ring sealed, and spring preload can be conveniently adjusted with a nut on the shock body.
A unique body mounting system using lugs in the wheel arches allows for quick and easy battery changes. Robust latches hold the body securely no matter how rough the ride.
SledgeHammer ST tires provide extreme traction and terrain control. Open tread blocks quickly shed debris. Large 2.8" black 6-spoke RXT wheels give the Rustler 4X4 an exceptionally aggressive look.
The factory-installed kit adds durability to exposed parts of the model. Each part is made from the most durable materials Traxxas uses. Whether you're driving through rough terrain or jumping over jumps, the kit is designed to last.
The chassis of the model consists of a durable plastic tub, on which the front and rear axles are attached. The controller with the motor and servos is on one side of the chassis and the battery is on the other for ideal weight distribution. The low center of gravity in combination with the wide track maintains stability in corners even at high speeds.
The modular design connects the front and rear chassis sections with the center chassis into one solid platform. This advanced solution ideally distributes impact energy while allowing for easy servicing of the model. By loosening just 4 screws at the rear and 5 at the front, you have access to all important components, model adjustments and service maintenance in a minute.
The front wheel steering mechanism is implemented using the Dual-Bell-Crank system, which ensures precise operation of the linkages to the wheels and reduces the Bump steering effect. The steering has an integrated servo-saver that protects the servo from overloading. For smoother operation, the sliding inserts can be replaced with 5 × 8 × 2.5 mm ball bearings (sold separately).
The innovative battery cradle securely holds the battery in place with a rotating latching partition, making battery replacement a matter of seconds and eliminating the need to loosen clips or straps.
Durable one-piece suspension links always maintain correct geometry. If you want to fine-tune the ride to your preferences, adjustable links are available, sold separately.
The weights and weight holders are reinforced with more material and have a stronger construction.
The suspension arms maintain proper geometry throughout the entire range of motion. Made from Traxxas' toughest composite material, they provide just the right amount of flex and durability, even in cold weather.
Solid bumpers protect the model in the event of impacts. The specially designed front bumper provides a high approach angle, allowing it to drive over obstacles.
The model has brutal performance, which is why it is equipped with rear support wheels that prevent the car from tipping over when you quickly step on the gas, so you can enjoy driving on the rear wheels. The Wheelie holder is flexible to absorb any impacts and also protects the pressure wing.
The model uses a number of patented solutions that reduce the risk of water entering the model. For example, the servo box seal or the epoxy-encapsulated controller electronics. This gives you the freedom to go for a ride regardless of the weather.
A rigid motor mounting system with pre-drilled holes according to the gear ratio eliminates tooth play. The gears always fit together precisely for maximum efficiency and long service life.
The model's drivetrain is designed from the ground up to handle the high output of the AC motor, using gears with a gear modulus of 32DP for reliable operation.
The one-piece center shaft is extra strong to transfer power between the front and rear axles, yet flexible enough to withstand impact damage. A bearing support in the center ensures that the drive shaft rotates smoothly even at high speeds.
The Rustler is equipped with high-quality metal-geared differentials that are fully prepared for the power of AC drive. Precision X-ring seals allow the differentials to be tuned for specific operating conditions by changing the oil viscosity.
The sealed center differential absorbs engine shocks and allows for fine-tuning of settings by changing the oil viscosity. It is factory-filled with thick oil, which reduces front axle lift under acceleration and ensures stable power transfer.
Maxx-Duty driveshafts with reinforced universal joints are designed for high engine performance. The 6 mm output shafts exit into hexagonal wheel carriers.
Large ball bearings are used throughout the drive system for smooth operation. The bearings are covered with a plastic cover to prevent dirt from entering. This solution extends the life of the model and simplifies maintenance.
This exclusive Traxxas patented feature is activated by the remote transmitter. Automatically, by applying the throttle and braking force, the model gradually swings and turns back onto its wheels.
The function is most effective when using a fully charged 3S LiPo battery.
Replacing the battery is now very easy thanks to the clip-free body attachment using the claws in the wheel arches. To remove, simply press the claws and slide the body upwards. Installing it is even easier – you lay the body down, push it from above and then it locks into place.
Robust side NERF reinforcements protect the chassis and body from stones. A special profile allows the body to be inserted for a safer and firmer fit.
Roof rails protect the body from scratches when the model rolls over.
A functional rear pressure wing reduces drag and provides downforce for high-speed stability. The wing is attached directly to the inner body frame for strength.
The model is controlled by a Traxxas 2057 digital servo. The servo is equipped with two ball bearings on the milled shaft and metal gears for maximum durability. The servo design is waterproof*.
The model is powered by a powerful Velineon V3200 brushless motor. The newly designed motor features intake ports and an internal cooling fan on the shaft that pushes air through the center of the motor. Additionally, a metal housing dissipates additional heat from the motor.
The waterproof VX3 electronic brushless controller features advanced electronics and 2-3S LiPo power (NiMH batteries not supported). It retains the simplicity of EZ-Set® one-button programming and three riding modes including Training Mode. For a more natural feel, braking is more linear with greater precision and resolution. The controller supports telemetry. A large aluminum heat sink dissipates heat. The electronics are waterproof*.
So that you are not limited by temperature protection even on long, demanding summer days, the controller and motor are equipped with powerful cooling fans.
The Traxxas TQi Sport 2.4 GHz three-channel receiver ensures safe control without interruptions. Pairing is easy with one button. Status is indicated by an LED. The receiver has integrated 3-axis MEMS sensors for position and movement sensing.
The model is controlled by a two-channel proportional steering wheel transmitter Traxxas TQi Sport, operating in the 2.4 GHz band - without interference. The transmitter is powered by only 4x AA batteries.
There is a rotary knob on the transmitter to trim the steering (so that the model drives straight when the steering wheel is in the center position). The battery status in the transmitter is indicated by an LED. With one button on the transmitter, channel reverse, endpoints, TSM on/off can be set.
Traxxas Stability Management (TSM) not only allows you to experience power, speed, acceleration and cornering at extreme speeds, but also ensures much easier steering and control on slippery surfaces such as dust, smooth concrete or even ice and snow.
The receiver contains a MEMS 3-axis gyro and accelerometer, which evaluate the model's movement at a rate of 100 times per second and corrects the direction of travel by appropriate interventions in the front wheel steering. Traxxas TSM does not limit engine power - you have 100% control over engine power. The algorithms are tuned for each model separately. TSM can be turned on or off via the TQi Sport transmitter.
