One of the coolest and best-looking 1:10 scale RC car models is the Traxxas Ford Raptor R in the Ultimate trim. The car is equipped with a 540XL brushless motor and a VXL-4s controller.
Fast digital servo steering along with TSM electronic ride stabilization provide top-notch control. Telemetric data of speed, rpm, battery voltage and more are available, which you can view in the app on your phone, thanks to the included Bluetooth module.

Engine power is transmitted via a center differential, an aluminum center shaft to the front and rear differentials with metal gears, and through robust telescopic axle shafts to the wheels.

Aluminum parts
The Raptor R Ultimate is fully equipped with anodized aluminum upgrades (trunnions, center shaft, GTR shocks and more) that guarantee maximum durability for extreme riding. The Extreme HD driveshafts are reinforced to create a nearly indestructible drivetrain.
Stapleless bodywork
The unique body mounting system using beaks in the wheel arches allows for quick battery replacement and the clean look of the model is not disturbed by clips. At the same time, the body holds firmly and will not come loose even during somersaults.
Extreme performance
The Velineon 540XL brushless motor is Traxxas' largest power unit for this type of RC car and works together with the new Traxxas VXL-4s controller with integrated telemetry and an adjustable BEC source at 6.0 or 7.4 V. When powered by a 4S LiPo battery, the model has exceptional acceleration and speed.
Real-time telemetry
The exclusive ESC with advanced electronics is equipped to transmit telemetry data in real time. Using a wireless Bluetooth module (sold separately) and the Traxxas Link app, you can monitor speed, engine speed and battery voltage in real time on your phone. Extended chassis
A new extended chassis with a 384 mm wheelbase has been specially developed for this particular model. In addition to ensuring precise proportions, the longer wheelbase increases stability at high speeds.
Modular construction
The modular chassis is easily disassembled with just a screwdriver. Within a minute, you have access to all important components and model settings.
Adjustable geometry
The Raptor R Ultimate uses the same 4mm steel links as the Slash. You can easily adjust the link length with a wrench to adjust the camber and toe-in to your needs. The links feature durable ball joints.
Aluminum bars
The 6061-T6 aluminum bars are CNC machined, and the finished look is enhanced by brightly colored anodizing and a laser-etched TRX logo.
Suspension arms
The arms utilize a trapezoidal construction and are made from a material that maintains its properties even in cold weather. From the racetrack to the skatepark, the Raptor R can withstand the harshest impacts.
Silencer towers
The new robust shock towers are reinforced to withstand a rollover and provide good support not only for the shocks but also for the bodywork.
Aluminum oil shock absorbers
The GTR shock absorbers with their PTFE-coated aluminum body represent the pinnacle of technology. The piston rod is also coated with extra-hard titanium nitride. The shock absorbers can hold up to 70% more oil than standard Ultra shock absorbers. The spring preload is conveniently adjusted using a nut.
Precision control
The steering mechanism of the front wheels is implemented by means of a Dual-Bell-Crank system, which ensures precise operation of the linkages to the wheels. The steering has an integrated cam servo-saver that absorbs shocks and protects the servo against overload.
Battery compartment
The universal compartment holds a 4S LiPo battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh. The double-height holder allows for easy and quick battery replacement, without clips or Velcro.
Side Nerf reinforcements
The rigid side Nerf bars not only provide side impact protection for the chassis, but also provide support for the bodywork. In case you hit an obstacle or find yourself in somersaults, this part is well protected.
Inter-tooth clearance
The solid motor mounting system with pre-drilled holes according to the gear ratio eliminates doubts about setting the correct tooth clearance. The gears always fit together precisely.
Center differential
The center differential absorbs engine shocks and distributes power between the front and rear axles. Unlike traditional differentials, it still delivers power to all wheels even when some wheels slip.
Metal differentials
The Raptor R is equipped with high-quality metal-geared differentials that are fully prepared for the power of AC drive. X-ring seals allow the differentials to be tuned for specific operating conditions by changing the oil viscosity.
Maxx-Duty axle shafts
The driveshafts with reinforced universal joints are made to handle the power of the AC motor without any problems. The 6mm output shafts are connected to steel carriers.
Center drive shaft
The one-piece aluminum center drive shaft is strong, lightweight, and provides smooth operation. The internal splines precisely fit the differential outputs.
Ball bearings
Large ball bearings are used throughout the drive system. The bearings are covered with a plastic cover to keep dirt out. This extends their lifespan and simplifies maintenance.
Larger BFGoodrich tires
The licensed BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires are 5mm taller than the stock tires on the Slash to mimic the aggressive look of the Raptor R. The replica Ford beadlock wheels have the same 2.2" outer diameter and 3" inner diameter as the stock wheels on the Short Course models. The lug is a 12mm hex.
Power steering
The servo is equipped with metal gears, two ball bearings for smooth operation and a metal center box for effective cooling.
540XL brushless motor
The model is powered by a powerful 540XL brushless motor. Strong and temperature-resistant neodymium magnets, high-speed bearings and 4-pole winding ensure smooth operation and long service life. The metal motor housing effectively dissipates heat from the stator.
Traxxas VXL-4s Electronic Controller
The brand new Traxxas VXL-4s brushless controller is designed to power a single 2S–4S LiPo battery. Simple one-button setup. LED status indication. Heat dissipation using a massive heat sink, which can be supplemented with an optional fan (not included). Waterproof design.
The ESC has an adjustable BEC via Bluetooth (sold separately). The BEC can be set to 6.0V for standard servos or 7.4V for powerful HV servos. The ESC has the following flight modes:
- Sport: Default mode, forward driving, braking and reverse driving are possible.
- Race: A mode suitable for racing. Forward and brake are possible; reverse is not available.
- Training: A mode suitable for children or novice riders. Forward travel with a 50% power limit, braking and reverse travel with a 50% power limit are possible.

Traxxas TQi RC kit with Bluetooth module
Traxxas has prepared a completely new line of RC kits for RC car models. Originally, it was possible to equip RC transmitters with a docking station for Apple devices. Traxxas continues to develop further and has prepared an RC transmitter with a slot for a wireless Bluetooth module (the module is included in the package). Thanks to this, you can wirelessly connect any device with a Bluetooth LE interface and the Apple iOS operating system (iPhone, iPod, iPad, ...) or Google Android (Samsung Galaxy, ...) to the transmitter. The Traxxas Link application for Apple devices is available for free on the App Store , the application for Google Android devices is free on Google Play .
The Traxxas Link App is a powerful app that gives you complete control over the operation and tuning of your Traxxas RC model with stunning visualization and absolute precision of settings. Traxxas Link displays real-time telemetry data, measuring speed, RPM, temperature and battery voltage. You can share RC model settings, create any number of profiles for a specific track or user, e.g. children. All in an app with brilliant graphics.

Traxxas TQi 2.4GHz receiver
The Traxxas TQi 2.4GHz TSM receiver with telemetry features simple operation, one-button pairing, and LED status indication. The receiver has integrated 3-axis MEMS sensors for learning the receiver's position.
The receiver is also equipped with two connectors for connecting telemetry sensors RPM (speed) and V/T (voltage/temperature). Furthermore, a telemetry expansion module can be connected to the 4-pin connector, into which you can connect up to 6 additional sensors, including a very accurate GPS speed sensor.
Traxxas Stability Management
Traxxas Stability Management (TSM) not only allows you to experience power, speed, acceleration and cornering at extreme speeds, but also ensures much easier steering and control on slippery surfaces such as dust, smooth concrete, or even ice and snow.
Package contents
The package includes a fully assembled RC model of the Traxxas Ford Raptor R Ultimate VXL 4WD car with installed components: Velineon 540XL brushless motor, Velineon VXL-4s speed controller, Traxxas 2275 HV servo and Traxxas TQi TSM 5-channel receiver.
The package also includes a Traxxas 2.4GHz TQi transmitter with an installed Bluetooth module, Allen keys, flat wrench, cross wrench for wheels, multi-function wrench, higher battery holder, CZ instructions and EN, DE, FR, SP manuals.
Must be purchased
To operate the model, you will need a drive battery, 4 AA batteries for the transmitter and a suitable charger. The model can be operated on a 2S–4S LiPo battery.
For normal driving, we recommend the Traxxas 3S (11.1 V) LiPo battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh, for higher performance, the Traxxas 4S (14.8 V) LiPo pack with a capacity of 5000 mAh. The batteries must be equipped with a Traxxas iD power connector.
Accessories for normal operation
For normal operation of the RC car, you need tire glue and silicone oil for the shock absorbers, and a set of Allen screwdrivers.
Tire glue is used to glue tires to the rim of the wheel. It is always necessary that the tire is firmly glued to the wheel rim around the entire circumference! If the tire is not glued around the entire circumference, it may burst. Tire glue has a special composition that is able to glue materials such as rubber or nylon and at the same time the glue is flexible after hardening. Do not use ordinary superglue - it is not flexible after hardening and cracks will gradually form in the tire around the rims!
It is also necessary to use special screw glue to secure detachable joints in metal materials (e.g. screws in the motor, worm in the pinion, etc.).
Sometimes it is necessary to add silicone oil to the model's shock absorbers. During normal operation, only slight silicone oil leaks occur along the shock absorber piston rods. If the surface of the shock absorber piston rods or seals is unsatisfactory, the oil leak can be large. So-called repair kits are available for these cases. The tuning parts offer includes piston rods with an extremely hard TiN (titanium nitride) coating for all shock absorbers.
