The North American B-25 Mitchell was arguably one of the best medium bombers of World War II. It first flew in 1939. The B-25 Mitchell was distinguished by its exceptional operational flexibility, thanks in part to its twin 1,750-horsepower Wright R-2600 Cyclone engines. It was named after General Billy Mitchell, who was considered the father and founder of the United States Air Force.
