Green Stuff World GSW8435646530185ES - GSW Flexible Paint (240 ml)
Flexible spray paints are designed to maintain adhesion and durability even when bent or subjected to mechanical stress on the substrate they are applied to. Unlike standard paints, which can crack or peel when bent, these paints contain special additives that improve their flexibility.
The absence of latex and vinyl ensures not only safety for allergy sufferers, but also excellent compatibility with a wide range of substrates without the risk of material degradation. The paint is suitable for application to materials such as EVA foam, latex, textiles, leather, 3D prints and various cosplay materials.
Proper surface preparation is essential for flexible paints as the paint must mechanically withstand the stresses of the material without delamination (peeling). Some materials may require sanding or priming to improve adhesion. A super flexible foam primer (e.g. Foam Primer and Coat) that is designed to not peel even when wet and to form a waterproof, frost-resistant film.
Thinned Flexible Paint, where the first coat can be created with Flexible Paint itself, if applied in a very thin layer and thinned sufficiently (with water or thinner). Vinyl coatings, where a layer of rubber spray like Plasti Dip works as an excellent elastic base for cosplay accessories. Latex can be used as an alternative base coat for materials that require extreme stretch.
It should always be applied in very thin layers, especially the first layer. The second and subsequent layers should be applied while the first layer is still tacky, i.e. the paint no longer leaves stains but feels like it is not completely dry. Too thick a layer of primer can affect adhesion and create wrinkles.
For best results, the recommended curing time of at least 24 hours should be adhered to, especially if the paint is applied to a surface with low adhesion. Larger coats of paint may require much longer depending on the thickness of the layer.
Application by airbrush or spray gun allows for extremely thin and even coats, reducing the risk of flaking. We recommend thinning with water, ideally with GSW Acrylic Thinner for acrylic paints, especially for the first coat where achieving a thin base coat is most important.
The satin finish of our flexible paints offers the ideal balance between matte and glossy finishes, creating a surface with a slight sheen that subtly highlights details without highlighting imperfections.
This type of finish is particularly recommended for flexible parts because it is more resistant to dirt than a matte finish, maintains an attractive visual appearance, withstands mechanical stress very well and makes cleaning easier, making it perfect for projects that require resistance, durability and aesthetics.
Notice:
- Mixing with regular (non-flexible) paints may negatively affect flexibility and adhesion.
- If the first layer is not thin enough or if a suitable primer is not applied, it could affect its adhesion.
- Allow to dry for 24 hours before final use. If it is sticky to the touch, it is not yet dry.
- It is a flexible paint of medium elasticity that allows it to adapt to movements without losing grip.
- A flexible varnish can be used as a final protective layer to increase durability.
