Corgi AA38111 - 1:48 Sopwith Camel F.1, B7190/C, Donner Wetter!
The Corgi The Aviation Archive series is a collection of detailed metal aircraft models, designed mainly for the discerning collector. Limited edition with numbered card.
Information about the template:
The Sopwith Camel was a British fighter aircraft manufactured by the Sopwith Aviation Company and used in World War I and shortly after. The most famous versions of this aircraft are the Sopwith F.1 Camel and Sopwith 2F.1 Camel. The Sopwith F.1 Camel was created as a replacement for the already inadequate Sopwith Pup fighters. In the early stages of its development it was known as the Big Pup, the first flight of the prototype took place in December 1916.
The armament consisted of two synchronized 7.7 mm Vickers machine guns mounted on the back of the fuselage in front of the cockpit. Due to the characteristic "hump" covering the machine gun breech, the new machine was called Camel. The first machines were assigned to operational units in May 1917 and in July they took part in the first battles. Approximately 5,500 examples were produced during the war.
