Kite has its origins before the war, when the late thirties Ing. Vladimír Štros worked on the design of multi-purpose glider and the result was a proposal named Sokol. After the war, development continued and in 1948 was the Red Kite Leto. Already at the stage of development of this structure showed interest not only NAC but also support came from the army, which subsequently used Luňák for fitness flying its pilots.

Serial production prepared in the flight and assumed a series of 200 pieces gliders. Kite is serially produced from 1950 to 1951 and produced a total of 75 pieces. Despite this relatively small amount served its time in flying clubs until the early seventies.

Today, several pieces of the renovation and re-serves.
